[FULL] SAAG Board of Directors
The Southern Alberta Art Gallery Maansiksikaitsitapiitsinikssin is now welcoming applications from qualified individuals to join its volunteer Board of Directors.
In order to stand for election, prospective Board Directors must have a current Gallery membership (available online or in-person at the Gallery). Interested candidates are strongly encouraged to review the Gallery’s Bylaws (available here), the Board of Director Roles & Responsibilities (available here), and familiarize themselves with the organization’s work prior to submitting their application.
The Gallery is interested in prospective Board Directors who can provide leadership in the following areas: arts and culture; capital projects; finance; fund development; legal; and technology/IT. The Gallery is committed to continually working towards more equitable systems and practices and expects prospective Board Directors to uphold this commitment through ongoing support of inclusivity, diversity, equity and accessibility at the organization. We welcome applications from candidates who identify as Indigenous, Black, racialized, LGBTQ2S+, d/Deaf and disabled, and from historically disadvantaged backgrounds.

In addition to attending Board meetings, Board Directors are expected to serve on a minimum of one Board Committee (Capital Project; Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging; Finance & Audit; Fund Development; and Governance) which are held alternating months from the Board meetings, or on an as-needed basis. The Board also participates in various training and professional development initiatives throughout the year as required. As outlined in our Bylaws and the Board of Director Roles & Responsibilities, each Board Director is expected to attend opening receptions, and attend and support the Gallery’s major fundraising events with Art Auction 2026 being held on May 2, 2026. Please note that opening receptions are free for all current members, and fundraising events are ticketed.
