Outreach and Communications Volunteer Intern
The Outreach and Communications Intern supports the BIPOC Foundation by serving as a bridge between the organization and the public, helping to engage potential members, foster community connections, and strengthen external relationships. This role involves assisting with outreach coordination, managing communication calendars (events, media, and press), and supporting the delivery of public relations initiatives that promote the Foundation’s programs and events.
The unpaid internship position provides you with practical skills and hands-on experience in a professional office setting. If you are new to Canada, this is an excellent opportunity for you to gain office experience, particularly in a Canadian cultural context.
This position will be a hybrid opportunity with a combination of online commitment, along with in-person meetings held.
Volunteer Duties
- Track and maintain calendars (editorial, press conferences, events, etc.).
- Coordinate sales, marketing, and planning to promote the services of the organization and receive donations.
- Draft, edit, and design PR content and (media announcements, newsletter inclusions, and speeches).
- Examining and documenting media coverage and tracking relevant PR metrics.
- Maintaining outreach activity records and mailing lists.
- Archive and scan materials for the press clips for periodical reports.
- Build relationships through outreach with community members.
- Assist the volunteer lead with communications and answering volunteer questions.
- Represent BIPOC at events, fairs.
- NOTE: Required to report to BIPOC events, programs and fairs
Age Requirements
18 years old or above
Schedule
6-8 months, 20 hours/week
- Wednesdays, from 1pm
- Fridays, from 1:30pm
