Outreach / Communications Assistant
Available as an internship position.

Volunteer Duties
- Acts as a liaison for potential members.
- Bridging outreach connections with individuals wanting information on the organization.
- Helps keep track of calendars (editorial, press conferences, events, etc.) and maintain them to assist other contributors, volunteer team members, and management.
- Report to the volunteer lead, and BIPOC relationship manager, the outreach/communications perform tasks such as:
- Assisting in organizing outreach events, including working the internal programs and comms teams for the coordination of sales, marketing, and planning, to promote the services of the organization and receive donations.
- Suggesting innovative ideas in brainstorming sessions relevant to the organization’s needs.
- Assisting the organization with various tasks to assist operations as assigned as well as in the execution of various events.
- Drafting, editing, and designing PR content and presentations as requested by management (media announcements, newsletter inclusions, and speeches).
- Examining and documenting media coverage and track relevant PR metrics.
- Maintaining outreach activity records and mailing lists with updates.
- Creating project-specific media lists to support the PR team.
- Archiving and scanning of materials for the press clips for periodical reports.
- Assisting in the execution of a variety of different administrative tasks as needed.
- Building relationships through outreach with community members both current and potential.
- Communicating deadlines, and new activities to supplement and support staff needs.
- Aiding the volunteer lead with communications, and answering questions across all volunteers.
- Verifying the volunteers; availability, receiving their feedback, recognizing their efforts, and answering their questions.
- Representing BIPOC at events, fairs etc, when required.
Requirements
- Age: 18 years old and above
Schedule
Commit to a minimum of 10-12 hours weekly over a 4–6-month period.
