Our shop sells quality, repaired/cleaned and tested donated items at reasonable prices to raise funds to contribute to local community service projects as well as the work of global partners for relief, development and peace.

This opportunity is also suitable for individuals who are intermediate in English.

Volunteer Duties

  • Process donated items by inspecting for condition and quality, cleaning, pricing according to price guideline.
  • Displaying items ready for sale on the retail floor.
  • May involve looking up items on Google that are unique to determine their value.
  • The position involves working with others and some lifting (20 lbs. or less).

Age Requirements

16 years old or above

Other Requirements

  • There is a dress code (business casual). We strive to create and promote a friendly, positive and inclusive experience for all customers, donors and volunteers.
  • We are on a bus route.
  • Volunteers take breaks as needed in the lunchroom where coffee, tea, iced tea and snacks are provided.

Schedule

  • Tuesdays (12pm–4pm)
  • Fridays or Saturdays for 4 hours (between 9:30am and 4:30pm)

Training is provided by our retail store manager on the cash register and customer service.

We provide a letter of reference once you have contributed 60 or more hours of volunteer time.

The thrift shop is accessible by bus and volunteers have a 15 – 20 minute break each shift.
