Finance and Operations Lead – Volunteer
The Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure is a 5k or 1k walk or run. It is a volunteer-led event and the largest breast cancer fundraiser in Canada.
This year’s event will be taking place on Sunday, October 4, 2026.
Volunteer Duties
As the volunteer Finance & Operations Lead, you will be responsible for:
- Detailed tracking of event expenses and projected budget.
- Updating the committee with key performance metrics (KPIs) throughout the season.
- Leading (or supporting the T-Shirt Pick-Up Coordinator – if applicable) with t-shirt pick-up on event day and early t-shirt pick-up.
- Training t-shirt pick-up tent volunteers and overseeing them on event day.
- Supplying all invoices and event paperwork to CCS staff partner throughout the year.
Age Requirements
18 years old or above
Other Requirements
The ideal candidate for this volunteer role has a positive attitude, communication and interpersonal skills, and a strong sense of self-motivation and time management.
Schedule
This is a 6-month commitment (May through October)
- Attending local committee meetings (bi-weekly to monthly)
- Independent role work/responsibilities (approx. 4-6 hours per month)
- Must be available over the event weekend (October 3 & October 4)
