FULL Tiny Press Workshop Volunteers

Tiny Press at SAAG is a bookbinding studio within the Southern Alberta Art Gallery Maansiksikaitsitapiitsinikssin. We will be hosting a make your own book workshop for the general public to learn how to use our equipment. 

We are looking for 1 volunteer for this program.

Volunteer Duties

Volunteer duties:

  • Program set up: the volunteer will help set up space and materials in Tiny Press ahead of the program. They will also be oriented to the Tiny Press equipment, specifically the creaser and paper cutter.
  • Program support: The volunteer will help the Program & Event Coordinator deliver the introduction to the Tiny Press equipment, assisting attendees as they use the creaser and paper cutter to make their books. They will also alert the Program & Event Coordinator to attendees needs as they arise. 
  • Program clean up: The volunteer will assist the Program & Event Coordinator with cleaning up after the activity, sweeping up paper, tidying materials, and organizing the space.

None

Other Requirements

No previous bookmaking experience is required. Comfort measuring and doing basic addition and subtraction are an asset. Volunteers should be comfortable engaging with members of the public. Moderate activity will be required including standing for lengths of time and pulling down large levers. 

Schedule

Saturday, February 14th, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Please arrive by 1:45 p.m.

The Southern Alberta Art Gallery Maansiksikaitsitapiitsinikssin is now welcoming applications from qualified individuals to join its volunteer Board of Directors.

In order to stand for election, prospective Board Directors must have a current Gallery membership (available online or in-person at the Gallery). Interested candidates are strongly encouraged to review the Gallery’s Bylaws (available here), the Board of Director Roles & Responsibilities (available here), and familiarize themselves with the organization’s work prior to submitting their application.

The Gallery is interested in prospective Board Directors who can provide leadership in the following areas: arts and culture; capital projects; finance; fund development; legal; and technology/IT. The Gallery is committed to continually working towards more equitable systems and practices and expects prospective Board Directors to uphold this commitment through ongoing support of inclusivity, diversity, equity and accessibility at the organization. We welcome applications from candidates who identify as Indigenous, Black, racialized, LGBTQ2S+, d/Deaf and disabled, and from historically disadvantaged backgrounds.

Join us for this exciting outreach activity at Helen Schuler Nature Centre’s Spring Nature Fest! The Gallery will run an art activity booth with drop-in activities. 

We are looking for 2 volunteers to assist with this event. 

Please note this event will take place at Helen Schuler Nature Centre. Booth location will be confirmed closer to the event. Parking space may be available and will be confirmed in advance of the program.

Crafternoon is a fun and family-friendly program that provides the opportunity to learn new art techniques and projects inspired by the Gallery’s current exhibitions. On the last Saturday of each month, we organize a self-directed drop-in art activity in our Creativity Centre. 

Crafternoon is held at the Southern Alberta Art Gallery (601 3rd Ave S) in Lethbridge, AB. Volunteers are welcome to attend one or multiple sessions.
