SAAG at Spring Nature Fest: Outreach Booth Assistant

Join us for this exciting outreach activity at Helen Schuler Nature Centre’s Spring Nature Fest! The Gallery will run an art activity booth with drop-in activities. 

We are looking for 2 volunteers to assist with this event. 

Please note this event will take place at Helen Schuler Nature Centre. Booth location will be confirmed closer to the event. Parking space may be available and will be confirmed in advance of the program. 

Volunteer Duties

Volunteer duties: 

  • Assist Gallery staff in preparing the craft booth for the program, setting up materials, organizing the table, prepping and laying out the activity, and other set up needs as required.
  • Assist participants throughout the program, providing guidance on the activity when appropriate and/or raising concerns to the guest artist. 
  • Help clean up the space throughout the activity, such as throwing out paper scraps, putting lids on glue sticks and markers, sharpening pencils, and other jobs as needed. 
  • Assist with cleaning up after the activity, putting away materials, packing up the booth, and transporting it back to the Gallery’s vehicle(s).

  • The art projects are designed to be fun for all skill levels, so an art background is NOT required for volunteers.
  • Volunteers should be comfortable engaging with the public; we expect upwards of 100 participants. Volunteers should be comfortable working/around with a wide range of ages, especially children.
  • Spring Nature Fest is predominantly oriented to children program.  Volunteers must be comfortable working with this demographic. Recent Vulnerable Sector Search required.

March 13th, 2026, 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Please arrive by 12:45 PM, event strike may take until 5:30 PM. If you are not available to help with clean up that is okay.

The Southern Alberta Art Gallery Maansiksikaitsitapiitsinikssin is now welcoming applications from qualified individuals to join its volunteer Board of Directors.

In order to stand for election, prospective Board Directors must have a current Gallery membership (available online or in-person at the Gallery). Interested candidates are strongly encouraged to review the Gallery’s Bylaws (available here), the Board of Director Roles & Responsibilities (available here), and familiarize themselves with the organization’s work prior to submitting their application.

The Gallery is interested in prospective Board Directors who can provide leadership in the following areas: arts and culture; capital projects; finance; fund development; legal; and technology/IT. The Gallery is committed to continually working towards more equitable systems and practices and expects prospective Board Directors to uphold this commitment through ongoing support of inclusivity, diversity, equity and accessibility at the organization. We welcome applications from candidates who identify as Indigenous, Black, racialized, LGBTQ2S+, d/Deaf and disabled, and from historically disadvantaged backgrounds.

Crafternoon is a fun and family-friendly program that provides the opportunity to learn new art techniques and projects inspired by the Gallery’s current exhibitions. On the last Saturday of each month, we organize a self-directed drop-in art activity in our Creativity Centre. 

Crafternoon is held at the Southern Alberta Art Gallery (601 3rd Ave S) in Lethbridge, AB. Volunteers are welcome to attend one or multiple sessions.

Seniors (65+) are welcome at the Southern Alberta Art Gallery Maansiksikaitsitapiitsinikssin from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for a free guided tour, art activity, and refreshments. The Gallery is looking for volunteers to help support our Seniors Tour & Tea. 

We are looking for 1 volunteer per session to assist with the programs.
