Plant/Gardens Volunteer
The Horticultural Society has some gardens near Henderson Pool that require regular volunteers. They also do some planters in front of the Regional Hospital as well as a large garden in Legacy Park on the North side.
There are several rocky, hilly areas where it is difficult to climb and work on and access to the flower beds would be difficult in a wheelchair. There are some paved paths, but grass around the main planted areas.
Volunteer Duties
- This is an extremely physical job where kneeling, squatting, bending, pruning, hauling in wheelbarrows or digging is needed.
- If some volunteers are not physically able to do intensive gardening, there are things like deadheading roses, etc. that can still be done during summer. They also do some pruning during the winter months.
