Friendly Visitor Volunteer
Barrier-Free Access- Suitable for Seniors
Friendly Visitor Volunteers will visit with residents engaging them in conversation and activities to make their day a little more enjoyable. Additional activities may include reading, playing card or board games.
This opportunity is:
- Suitable for Individuals who cannot stand for too long.
- Suitable for Wheelchair users.
Volunteer Duties
- Visit with residents.
- Engage residents in conversation.
- Engage residents in activities just as reading, play card or board games.
Age Requirements
18 years old or above
Other Requirements
Volunteers in this role should have:
- Working knowledge of the English language
- Excellent people skills
- Ability to work independently or with a support worker
- Willingness and ability to take direction from staff
- Sensitivity to the needs and challenges of the resident the volunteer is visiting
Schedule
Weekdays:
- 10am–12pm, or
- 1pm–4pm
It will also depend on the needs or preferences of specific residents.

Program Assistants will provide residents with the opportunity to engage in programs that provide social interaction, mental stimulation, physical activity and inclusion in the community. Volunteers will work closely with residents to provide them with the freedom to participate in a non-threatening activity that contributes to overall quality of life and well-being.
