Program Assistant Volunteer
Program Assistants will provide residents with the opportunity to engage in programs that provide social interaction, mental stimulation, physical activity and inclusion in the community. Volunteers will work closely with residents to provide them with the freedom to participate in a non-threatening activity that contributes to overall quality of life and well-being.
Volunteer Duties
As a Program Assistant, you will provide support to Recreation Staff for various games, activities and events with set-up, preparation, engaging with staff and residents during activities and with clean up and take-down. Games, activities and events are not limited to but can include:
- Bocce Ball
- Bowling
- Balloon Badminton
- Bingo
- Baking
- Birthday Parties
- Meal Clubs
Age Requirements
Minimum age 16 - 18 years old
Other Requirements
Volunteers in this role should have:
- Working knowledge of the English Language.
- Excellent people skills.
- Ability to work independently or with a support worker.
- Willingness and ability to take direction from staff.
- Sensitivity to the needs and challenges of the residents.
Schedule
Various times are available weekly but typically:
- 9:30am–11:30am
- 1pm–4pm
- 5:30pm–7:30
