Events Team – Program, Project & Events Assistant

The unpaid internship position provides you with practical skills and hands-on experience in a professional office setting. If you are new to Canada, this is an excellent opportunity for you to gain office experience, particularly in a Canadian cultural context.

Volunteer Duties

  • Assists with our program and events delivery.
  • Assists HQ and the Volunteer Program Lead, as well as the rest of the Program Leads with tasks assigned on a per project basis.
  • Reporting to the Volunteer Program Lead and the Operations Lead, the Program & Events Assistant will conduct general tasks such as:
    • Writing, reviewing, editing, and updating events related content for company websites, blogs, marketing materials, and other mediums at times.
    • Conducting research and interviews to learn more about current trends, developments, and perceptions about the subject matter (Events and campaigns for black-led founders and businesses), and then contextualizing your findings.
    • Assisting the team with the design of promotional materials for events on a project basis.
    • Using social media to engage clients, respond to questions or complaints, and to promote company initiatives relating to BIPOC Foundation’s programs and events.
    • Collaborating with internal departments to establish campaign objectives, complete tasks, and identify and solve problems.
    • Suggesting new ways to promote program and event offerings and to reach stakeholders.
    • Brainstorming and implementing event concepts and assisting with plans and activities.
    • Liaising with vendors.
    • Assisting management with tasks that aid in negotiating sponsorship.
    • Updating HQ and management on various topics and feedback relating to programs and events.
    • Assisting with the development, review, and sending of post-event feedback surveys.
    • Assisting with the process to obtain permits for specific events, programs, and projects.
    • Circulating post-event reports while working with a program leads to preparing and reviewing them.
    • Assisting in development of SOP for events creation and delivery.
    • Assisting in mobilizing event/campaign volunteers.
    • Assisting the project team is responsible for initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, and closing of projects and events.
    • Assisting in analyzing and integrating the time, cost, quality, resources, communications, risk and procurement of the projects.
    • Managing the planning, budgets, and implementing of projects assigned by HQ and the Volunteer Program Lead.
    • Monitoring and reporting on progress of assigned projects.
    • Assisting in generating short term and long term project/event timelines and guiding various team’s contributions and deliverables.
    • Adapting work breakdowns for changes based on project needs when necessary to meet project outputs, outcomes, and objectives.
    • Presenting progress, problems, and solutions to management and HQ or other parties as necessary.
    • Monitoring and reporting on progress of assigned projects.
    • Assistance in Managing the planning, budgets, and implementation of projects and events assigned by HQ and the Volunteer Program Lead.

18 years old or above
