Inclusion Lethbridge Board of Directors

Inclusion Lethbridge Association operates with a hybrid governance and advocacy Board.

Board Members share responsibility for the governance, strategic direction and stewardship of the Association while also taking an active role in advancing its mission through advocacy, community engagement and organizational initiatives.

This is an active working Board position. Attendance at Board meetings is an important part of the role, but Board service extends beyond meetings. Members are expected to contribute their time, skills, perspectives and effort throughout the year and to take responsibility for agreed-upon work.

The Board works collectively to ensure Inclusion Lethbridge Association remains mission-driven, accountable, financially responsible, sustainable and responsive to the priorities of people with developmental disabilities and their families.

Volunteer Duties

The Board is accountable to the Association’s membership and has responsibilities to the people and families it serves, funders, community partners and the broader community. Every Board Member shares responsibility for:

  • The long-term direction and sustainability of the Association
  • Responsible stewardship of financial and organizational resources
  • Oversight of organizational performance and risk
  • Oversight and support of the Executive Director
  • Protecting the integrity, reputation and mission of Inclusion Lethbridge Association
  • Advancing inclusion and advocating alongside people with developmental disabilities and their families

Board Members should demonstrate:

  • Commitment to Inclusion Lethbridge Association’s mission and values
  • Belief in the rights, dignity, choice and full inclusion of people with developmental disabilities
  • Willingness to actively contribute rather than simply attend meetings
  • Reliability and the capacity to fulfill commitments
  • Curiosity and openness to learning
  • Ability to work collaboratively and consider different perspectives.
  • Willingness to participate in both governance and advocacy
  • Sound judgment and respect for confidentiality
  • Contributing meaningfully to the work required to move the organization forward
