It’s that time of year again! The Lethbridge Public Library is proud to join communities across the country in a national celebration of literacy, storytelling, and the literary arts, by bringing The Word On The Street Festival to Lethbridge.
The Word On The Street Festival is growing into a signature event in Southern Alberta, where we present established and emerging authors, storytellers, informative panel discussions, demonstrations and workshops, live music, tons of activities and a bustling marketplace. We strive to create a FREE local festival that represents the diversity of our community, is accessible to all ages, and most importantly is well attended, lively, and fun.
Volunteer Duties
You’ll be counting the crowd. The day of the festival you’ll be given a map that shows the different counting zones, as well as, a schedule of when you need to complete the counts. It is difficult to count a crowd of people, so just do your best. DO NOT count festival guests at the performance stage area.
Other tasks:
- Encouraging festival guests to participate in upcoming author talks, workshops and activities.
- Directing festival guests and answering their questions.
- Handing out programs, survey leaflets and scavenger hunt cards.
- Answer exhibitor questions and check in with them periodically to assess any needs.
- Change overflowing garbage bags if necessary.

13 years old or above

- Volunteer orientation: Tuesday, September 15th, 2026 at 6:30pm at the Main Branch Library
- Saturday, September 19, 2026 (11am – 2pm and 2 – 5pm
