Whoop Up Days SAAG Workshops
Join us for this exciting outreach activity at Whoop Up Days! The Gallery will run an art activity booth featuring guest artists and drop-in activities.
Please note this event will take place at Whoop Up Days, not at the Southern Alberta Art Gallery. Booth location will be confirmed closer to the event. Parking space may be available and will be confirmed in advance of the program.
Volunteer Duties
- Volunteers will assist the guest artist and Gallery staff in preparing the craft booth for the program, setting up materials, organizing the table, prepping and laying out the activity, and other set up needs as required.
- Volunteers will assist the guest artist and participants throughout the program, providing guidance on the activity when appropriate and/or raising concerns to the guest artist. They will help to clean up the space throughout the activity, such as throwing out paper scraps, putting lids on glue sticks and markers, sharpening pencils, and other jobs as needed. The artist will walk them through the craft project following the activity set up to ensure they feel confident doing the project.
- Volunteers will assist with cleaning up after the activity, putting away materials, packing up the booth, and transporting it back to the Gallery’s vehicle(s).
Age Requirements
16 years old or above
Requirements
- The art projects are designed to be fun for all skill levels, so an art background is not required for volunteers.
- Volunteers should be comfortable engaging with the public; we expect upwards of 100 participants for each day. Volunteers should be comfortable working/around with a wide range of ages, including children.
- On August 21, we expect to partner with Lethbridge Family Services Newcomer Programs. Experience or interest working with newcomer communities is an asset but not required for this role.
