Student Mentor
Volunteer mentors are a crucial aspect of our program. We have space for 70 students but only have 4 teachers on staff. It’s impossible for those teachers to build close connections with all the students. Which is where volunteers come in! During our after school program we need volunteers to build relationships with the students and help them participate in the daily program. Our program runs Monday-Thursday from 3:30pm-5:30pm. We ask volunteers to choose one day/week to commit to helping out.
The first hour of our program students are arriving, eating snack and playing games which is the perfect time to visit and check-in with them. The second hour is dependent on the day. We have group music lessons, theory games, music appreciation activities, crafts, wide games, practices or ensemble class. While experience in music is an asset for volunteers, there are lots of other activities that we need support with too.
Having an older mentor has a huge impact on the success and wellbeing of a child. You can make a positive difference in the life of a child at Branches!
