Summer is the season of yard sales and we’re taking part! We will have a variety of gently used Gallery items available for purchase, including books, wood, hardware, technology, and more! All items will be available by donation, and this event is free to attend.

We are seeking volunteers to help support the transportation and set up of materials on Friday, July 11th, and to help with the sale itself on Saturday, July 12th.

Volunteer Duties

Set up, July 11th:

  • Transportation (9:30am-12:30pm): Assist Gallery staff in loading, transporting, and unloading materials from in-Gallery and offsite storage for the sale. This is a physical role. Volunteers should be comfortable lifting 50 lbs, bending, and moving items. Access to a truck is a strong asset but not required for this position.
  • Sale set up (1:30pm-3:30pm): Assist gallery staff in setting up items for the sale, including setting up item displays, writing and sticking on recommended sale price stickers, art activity set up, pre-mixing and chilling drinks. This may be a physical role, but can be adjusted to accommodate needs and abilities.

Yard Sale, July 12th, 11am-4pm (Arrive between 10:30am and 10:45am)

  • Point of Sale (2x): Assist staff and Volunteer should be friendly and previous customer service experience or POS/money handling experience an asset.
  • Floating support (2-3x): Greet guests as they arrive and offer assistance directing them to items or locations in the Gallery, maintain refreshments table (lemonade and water). Volunteers should be friendly and able to multi-task. Volunteers will be on their feet for most of the event. May be asked to assist with transporting/loading materials for purchase, but this will not be required of all volunteers in this role. Please note whether you are comfortable loading materials if applying to this position. This may be a physical role, but can be adjusted to accommodate needs and abilities.
  • Art Activity support (2x): work with the Gallery staff to manage small art activity, provide art materials for attending children to use (drawing, collage, etc.), experience working with children is an asset. Art activity may be outside on the front patio area depending on weather. Projects are designed to be fun for all skill levels, so an art background is not required for volunteers.

Volunteers can express interest in multiple positions if desired, with final positions determined and communicated at least a week in advance. Positions may be flexible depending on the business of the event (e.g. may ask art activity volunteers to help move items or refresh drinks).

The Gallery is looking for volunteer support for our Coulees & Culture Day Camps.

These camps are presented in partnership with Helen Schuler Nature Centre, Galt Museum & Archives, New West Theatre, and Fort Whoop Up. Campers move between institutions each day to get new exciting experiences from Lethbridge’s cultural sector. The Gallery hosts up to 15 campers ages 6-10 for a day of programming, including art projects, games, and outdoor activities.

We are looking for volunteers to help support our program leaders and assistants during these camps, specifically with outdoor lunch supervision and clean up support.
