Reading/Homework Support Volunteer
Do you like helping children improve their reading skills? This volunteer position might be for you!
In this opportunity, volunteers will work in schools in Lethbridge: two are elementary and one is middle school.
Volunteer Duties
- In this opportunity, volunteers will be placed in schools, assisting staff with pulling students out one-on-one to work on literacy skills.
- Volunteers will work one-on-one with children to practice reading aloud and assist them with literacy skills.
Age Requirements
15 years old or above
Requirements
- Should be interested in children and have a desire to help them improve their reading skills, be patient, organized and a team player
Schedule
- Monday/Thursdays (8:15am-2pm) at Wilson – Grades 6-8
- Tuesday/Wednesdays (9am-3pm) at St. Martha’s – Grades 1-6
- Wednesdays (12:30pm-4:15pm) at Opokaa’sin – Kindergarten
- We host a Homework Club (Wilson) and Boardgame Club (Opokaa’sin) as well
- Our schedule is flexible to accommodate volunteers if they would like to come in for a morning or afternoon shift
