PAACT (PET & ANIMAL ADVOCACY CARE TEAM) VOLUNTEER POSITIONS
PAACT is a rapidly growing grassroots nonprofit in Southern Alberta, dedicated to strengthening the bond between pets and their people through compassion, education, and proactive community support. We are seeking dedicated, kind-hearted individuals who share our belief that pets and families deserve dignity, understanding, and accessible care.

Flexible, Supportive, and Purposeful
PAACT recognizes that volunteers come from diverse backgrounds and bring different levels of availability, experience, and capacity. To honour this, we offer a structure that allows meaningful involvement while maintaining the level of consistency required to support vulnerable pets and the families who depend on us.
Core Volunteers
Core volunteers form the foundation of PAACT’s ongoing programs and community support. These positions involve structured, recurring responsibilities that ensure continuity in rehoming efforts, educational outreach, direct owner support, and operational coordination.
- Commitment: Approximately 10+ hours per week
- Ideal for: Individuals seeking consistent involvement and deeper impact
- Expectations align with: Hands-on support, rehoming assistance, crisis intervention, outreach, administrative or operational tasks
Core volunteers are essential in maintaining the stability and quality of PAACT’s services across Southern Alberta.
Community & Event Volunteers
Community volunteers contribute to grassroots initiatives and outreach efforts with a flexible, project-based approach. These roles accommodate varying schedules and allow individuals to participate in short-term or event-specific opportunities.
- Commitment: Flexible, project-by-project
- Ideal for: Individuals who prefer occasional involvement or shorter commitments
- Roles include: Frosty Paws builds, Care Closet deliveries, event support, outreach booths, donation drives, transport assistance
This structure ensures community involvement remains accessible while upholding safety, accountability, and program integrity.
Student Volunteers
Student volunteers are welcomed into a supportive environment designed to help them gain hands-on experience in animal welfare, community advocacy, and nonprofit operations.
- Commitment: 2–4 hours per month, depending on events and projects
- Ideal for: College and university students seeking volunteer hours or real-world experience
- Roles include: Event support, outreach, Care Closet preparation, Frosty Paws builds, educational materials, photography, creative projects
This role encourages skill development, teamwork, and leadership while reinforcing PAACT’s mission of compassion and community care.

Volunteer Duties
Core Volunteer Duties
- Provide direct, compassionate support to pet owners in crisis or transition
- Assist with behaviour, medical, or resource-related concerns
- Conduct or support rehoming intakes, assessments, and adopter screenings
- Assist with drafting pet profiles, taking photos, and coordinating communication
- Support home checks and adoption contract procedures
- Represent PAACT at workshops, events, and community outreach
- Help create educational content, resources, and digital materials
- Organize and prepare Care Closet supplies and deliveries
- Participate in Frosty Paws shelter builds and distribution
- Assist with grief group setup and non-clinical support tasks
- Perform administrative tasks, data entry, and documentation
- Support social media, communications, or case follow-up
- Attend meetings, provide feedback, and support program development
- Uphold PAACT’s values and ensure safe, ethical interactions with pets and people
Community Volunteer Duties
- Participate in short-term or event-based projects
- Assist with Frosty Paws builds and shelter placement
- Support donation drives, supply pickups, and transport
- Sort and prepare Care Closet resources
- Help distribute supplies to families in need
- Volunteer at markets, outreach booths, and fundraisers
- Share responsible pet care information with the public
- Assist with lost/found pet posts or awareness tasks
- Assemble kits, materials, or resource bundles
- Follow safety guidelines and event-specific requirements
Student Volunteer Duties
- Assist with event setup, outreach, and community engagement
- Support workshops, adoption events, and fundraising activities
- Prepare Care Closet kits and supplies
- Participate in Frosty Paws build days
- Assist with safe animal handling at events (with supervision)
- Create educational posters, graphics, photos, or videos
- Help with pet profiles, lost/found posts, and social media content
- Support data entry, organization, and planning tasks
- Prepare donation packages and thank-you materials
- Represent PAACT professionally and reliably at all events

18 years old or above
Schedule
Core Volunteer Schedule
- Weekly commitment: Approx. 10+ hours per week
- Schedule structure:
- 3-4 blocks of availability weekly (e.g., 2–4 hours per block)
- At least one check-in with a coordinator each week
- Flexibility in choosing preferred days/times
- One mandatory Team Meeting per month
Community Volunteer Schedule
- Commitment: Flexible, project-based
- Schedule structure:
- Participation only when available
- Sign-up sheets posted for events, builds, and donation drives
- No weekly requirement
- Ideal for those with changing schedules or who prefer occasional volunteering
Student Volunteer Schedule
- Monthly commitment: 2–4 hours per month
- Schedule structure:
- Volunteer for scheduled events, builds, or outreach days
- Optional participation in weekend or after-school activities
- Advance sign-up required for each shift
- Works around school requirements and availability
