Join us at the Southern Alberta Art Gallery on Saturday, August 9th from 7pm to 9pm to celebrate the opening of our summer exhibitions, featuring the work of Leila Sujir and Naamakii Bee Bear Hat. Enjoy the artworks and refreshments, mingle with the community and meet the artists. The opening reception is free for all.
The Southern Alberta Art Gallery is looking for help with this event!
Volunteer Duties
- Bartenders (x2): Mix and pour drinks, take payments, bartenders must be 18 years old or above.
- Gallery floaters (x1): greet guests as they arrive and enter the gallery spaces, perform intermittent walkthroughs to ensure guests don’t bring drinks or food into the gallery spaces, bussing tables, providing direction and info for guests, assist where needed throughout the night.
- Art zone attendee (x1): work with the Gallery’s Outreach Coordinator to manage a small play area at the back of the gallery, provide art materials for attending guests to use (drawing, collage, etc.), experience working with children an asset. Projects are designed to be fun for all skill levels, so an art background is not required for volunteers.
Age Requirements
Bartenders must be 18 years old or above

- Pro-serve required only for Bartender position.

Other Opportunities with Southern Alberta Art Gallery
Summer is the season of yard sales and we’re taking part! We will have a variety of gently used Gallery items available for purchase, including books, wood, hardware, technology, and more! All items will be available by donation, and this event is free to attend.
We are seeking volunteers to help support the transportation and set up of materials on Friday, July 11th, and to help with the sale itself on Saturday, July 12th.
The Gallery is looking for volunteer support for our Coulees & Culture Day Camps.
These camps are presented in partnership with Helen Schuler Nature Centre, Galt Museum & Archives, New West Theatre, and Fort Whoop Up. Campers move between institutions each day to get new exciting experiences from Lethbridge’s cultural sector. The Gallery hosts up to 15 campers ages 6-10 for a day of programming, including art projects, games, and outdoor activities.
We are looking for volunteers to help support our program leaders and assistants during these camps, specifically with outdoor lunch supervision and clean up support.
Join us for this exciting outreach activity at Whoop Up Days! The Gallery will run an art activity booth featuring guest artists and drop-in activities.
Please note this event will take place at Whoop Up Days, not at the Southern Alberta Art Gallery. Booth location will be confirmed closer to the event. Parking space may be available and will be confirmed in advance of the program.
