Art Auction returns to the Southern Alberta Art Gallery Maansiksikaitsitapiitsinikssin on May 3, 2025! Art Auction is the Gallery’s longest-running, much beloved annual fundraiser—and an important opportunity to contribute to the Gallery’s work making southern Alberta a place where contemporary art creates and supports vibrant communities. Funds raised through Art Auction are invested right back into delivering the Gallery’s core mission by supporting programming and exhibitions throughout the year.
Volunteer Duties
POSITION DESCRIPTIONS
Event Set Up: Steam table cloths, set tables, assist with AV set up, raffle set up, etc; Help set up the gallery for the event
Bar: Mix and pour drinks, take payments; 18+ pro serve required
Bottle Service: Pour champagne, take payments; 18+ pro serve required
Greeter/Showcasing: Welcome guests as they arrive, provide event information, cross guests off check list; assist with showcasing when needed
Coat Rack/Showcasing: Take coats from guests, retrieve coats at the end of the night; assist with showcasing when needed
Showcasing: Walk the art onstage during the live auction to be presented for the auction
Spotters: Stationed throughout the main gallery; point out those bidding to the auctioneer; write down winning bidder’s information
Event Float/Showcasing: Assist where needed; bus cocktail tables in hallway, fill water jugs in gallery, assist with showcasing when needed
Tickets: Sell tickets to guests (liquor, 50-50, raffle, etc); Must be 18+
Post Event Clean Up: Take down tables, take down signage, etc
Age Requirements
Must be 18 years old or above
Requirements
- Valid pro-serve is required for Bar and Bottle Service positions.
- Volunteers should be comfortable engaging with members of the public.

2 volunteers – Greeter – 4:30pm-7:00pm
Set Up – Friday, May 2nd, 2025
3-5 volunteers – Event Set Up – 10:30am-3:30pm
Art Auction – Saturday, May 3rd, 2025
2 volunteers – Bartender – 4:30pm-11:00pm
2 volunteers – Bottle Service – 4:30pm-11:00pm
2 volunteers – Greeter & Showcasing – 4:30pm-11:00pm
2 volunteers – Coat Rack & Showcasing – 4:30pm-11:00pm
2 volunteers – Showcasing – 4:30pm-11:00pm
3 volunteers – Spotters – 4:30pm-11:00pm
2 volunteers – Event Float & Showcasing – 4:30pm-11:00pm
1 volunteer – Tickets – 4:30pm-11:00pm
