Care Closet Volunteer
Flexible Hours- Suitable for Seniors
PAACT’s Care Closet provides pet food and essential supplies to help pets remain with the people who love them. We are seeking a dependable and compassionate community volunteer to support scheduled pickups, donation collection, inventory organization, and supply preparation.
This is an entry-level community volunteer position with the potential to grow into a Core Volunteer and, in the future, a Care Closet Coordinator or board position based on interest, experience, suitability, and organizational needs.
Volunteer Duties
- Meet community members for scheduled Care Closet pickups.
- Distribute requests prepared and approved by the PAACT team.
- Report completed, missed, late, or cancelled pickups.
- Collect donations from community donation bins at least once every two weeks.
- Help sort and organize donations.
- Assist with preparing Emergency Care Closet Kits when needed.
- Maintain confidentiality, appropriate boundaries, and respectful, nonjudgmental communication.

18 years of age or older

- Dependable, respectful, compassionate, and comfortable interacting with diverse community members.
- Able to maintain confidentiality and appropriate boundaries.
- Able to communicate reliably with the PAACT team.
- Access to reliable transportation for donation-bin collections.
- Able to safely lift and transport bags or boxes of pet food and supplies. Accommodations can be discussed.
- Personal access to a phone and email.
- Willingness to follow PAACT policies and procedures.
Schedule
Flexible, based on the volunteer’s communicated availability. Ideally, volunteers can provide one or two scheduled pickup periods of approximately 30 minutes to one hour per week and complete donation-bin collections at least once every two weeks.
Volunteers are not expected to maintain open availability, rearrange personal commitments, provide home delivery, or work beyond their stated capacity.

Core Volunteers are the backbone of PAACT’s ongoing programs and services. PAACT is a rapidly growing grassroots nonprofit serving communities across Southern Alberta. Our work is grounded in compassion, dignity, and proactive support—strengthening the bond between pets and their people through education, advocacy, and early intervention.
